So this week has been fairly quiet until yesterday! I like somewhat laid back weeks.

Austyn started selling homeade pizza's for a youth fundraiser and he did GREAT yesterday! Thanks to each of you who supported him by buying pizza's yesterday! What a blessing each of you are!!!

Bubba had a game yesterday afternoon which after some confusion turned into not a game but a round robin type of thing! Bubba's team won one and lost one! Bubba had 2 goals scored on him and he was bummed but it's ok he played great!

Matt is working alot right now and is keeping busy with trucking and carpets!

Tonight is Family Bible study at our house and then tomorrow is busy with more carpet cleaning and a wedding and 2 soccer games and in the evening a wedding reception so we will be going in many directions!

Weekend Update

So this past week and weekend was EXTREMELY busy but such a profitable one!

We made over 80 dozen breakfast burritos which we sold as a fundraiser for the youth kids! We had a HUGE yard sale which was ABOVE and BEYOND what we ever anticipated it being and we made a ton of money to send the kids to camp!! Then today Chris and Stacy surprised us by bringing our new truck stickers and putting them on the truck for us!

It has been very exhausting but very rewarding!!

So it is getting close to a year since I have blogged!!! WOW!!! CRAZY!!! I am going to try and update this thing once a week. TRY that is!! :-)

I am not even going to try and catch everyone up on the last year there is just NO WAY!!

Right now we are WAY busy!! The boys are in Soccer right now. They are on separate teams this year so that keeps it a bit interesting. Matt is assistant coaching Austyn's team. Austyn had his first game on Monday and they won 5-1!! YAY!! Bubba has his first game tomorrow night! He is SOOOO excited!

We are busy getting fundraisers in to help the Aftershock Youth go to summer camp! Matt and I and Austyn will go again this year so we have ALOT of money to raise but we know with God it is ALL possible!

Surgery

So Bubba had a fight with the barbwire on Sunday night. He was chasing Austyn, Tommy, and Dougie when he got caught up in barbwire. It really tore him up!!! He had to have a tetanus shot and so far he is doing good just extremely sore! These pictures don't show what it really is like. It is AWFUL!!

We made Shish Kabobs and Matt made this new chocolate cake in the dutch oven and of course peach cobbler and ice cream. MMMMM Good!!! Cheyenne

No pictures to post but we made a QUICK trip to Cheyenne yesterday! It was a 12 hour turnaround! We went through Sterling and dropped off Matt's semi so he could go to work on his way back. Then we went up to Cabela's and Matt had to buy a few more dutch ovens for summer camping trips. Then we had to hit the must stop of McDonald's. We were able to stop at Chris and Stac's and grab a cup of coffee. Then they took us to Sam's Club and hung out with us in Sam's while we shopped. Then we went and picked up drums that Justin sold us for the church. Then I made the slowest turn in history because I didn't know what I was doing.....Stac will understand.....and we went to an amazing Mexican Food Restaurant called the Tortilla Factory! YUMMY!! We brought back homeade tortillas! MMMMM GOOOD!! Then we made the trek home. Not bad for a 12 hour span of time!!!

Little League First Game

So Bubba had his first Little League game of the season the other night. This is only his 2nd year to ever play so it is like a beginner year for him. His friend Destyn and him are the oldest players on the team all the rest are way younger. It is good for him to learn the basics though. He played third base this game and he almost made a run. He got to third and then they got their third out. Oh well! They won their game 3 to 1! Go Imperial RED!!!

First Summer Trip to the Lake

So this weekend we made our first trip to the lake. We had a bbq with friends and just hung around the campfire into the night. My camera died so I only have a few pictures. Matt's sister and family are here now so the boys had fun with their cousins being there too!!!

Our baby geese are out and about running around the yard! I just sat and watched them in amazement as the mom and dad geese worked together. They were teaching them how to eat and drink and they were working together. The dad was totally protecting the babies and would not let me close to get a picture. It reminded me how God has designed parents to work together and to parent together. It was such a neat scriptural analogy!

Okay so almost a month ago one of our geese began sitting on some eggs. We have prayed that we would have a successful hatch. So far we have one baby and another almost out. We are ALL so excited! Okay, so where do I begin???

Austyn: Well, a few weeks ago Austyn turned 13!! I am TOTALLY amazed that he is now officially a teenager. YIKES! It really does seem like just yesterday that I was coming home from the hospital with him and that all the cousin's were there to welcome their new baby cousin! We are so blessed to have him in our life. Austyn and I have the same personality and we butt heads alot but we learn so much from each other. He is trying to become more independant and I am having a hard time with it. I know I need to begin to SLOWLY let him grow up but it sure is hard!

Austyn finished his last year of U14 soccer this year. Their team did great and only lost one game and that was to the other Imperial team. He also played on the U19 team this year and that was a good experience for him. He got to play with older and more experienced players. He also tried out for a summer traveling soccer team and he was chosen but he would not have gotten much playing time if any and so we opted to wait another year to do it. Austyn will be going to summer camp this summer and he is so excited. He has raised all of his money and he is one of the first ones to do that. This is the camp that we took our youth kids to for so many years. It is in California and Matt and I get to go with him this year. This camp is AMAZING and we are praying for great spiritual growth for him and his 7 other fellow youth kids that are going!

Bubba had a great soccer season this year. This was the last year that him and Austyn get to play on the same team for a few years. It was so much fun to have them on the same team. Bubba is now playing baseball. He has not played in several years and he is excited to do it again. He has a great coach and he gets to play with his cousin Kyler who just moved here from Arizona. Bubba is looking forward to a summer trip with his grandma. While Matt and I and Austyn are in Califonia he gets to fly with his grandma for a week long trip to Wisconsin to see relatives. Bubba still enjoys the farm animals and was the proud daddy of 30 baby chicks this spring. At this moment he has a momma goose sitting on 8 eggs and he is hoping and praying that they hatch. They have caught 2 snakes trying to snatch the eggs. I don't know how the snake thinks it is going to eat those eggs. They are so big!

Matt has officially begun a new business. He is now running a carpet cleaning business. He is trying to do that as well as truck driving. He has a driver coming to work for us in a few weeks so he will dedicate his time to the carpet cleaning. We are praying that it works into full time work for him. He would love to work 3-4 days a week carpet cleaning and then have 1-2 days to dedicate at the church. There is so much to be done at the church that it would be wonderful if he could be there at least 1 if not 2 days a week.

I continue to do whatever needs to be done. I am loking forward to playing softball this summer with the city league. Our church has a team and Matt and I both play on it. It is a fun thing that Matt and I can do together as well as with friends!

Matt's biological sister Kristina (Hope)and her family moved here this past week. The boys are glad to have their cousins nearby. (just down the road) We are glad to have Kristina nearby too. Pray for their adjustment!

TIME FLIES BY!!

Well a very good friend of mine the other day reminded me that I needed to update this! I have meant to but just haven't found the time to lately.

Today I am in a hospital with a friend who is going through some tests. She has been diagnosed with a low grade brain tumor. There are concerns about where her memory is and how removing this tumor will affect her memory. She has EXTENSIVE tests today and I would appreciate the prayers for her. As I am writing this she is in a MRI and they could NOT give her anything to relax since it is a functional MRI. PLEASE PRAY THAT GOD WOULD GIVE HER MIND PEACE!!!

Another friend of ours was having chest pains yesterday and was flown to Kearney and had a stent put in. Please pray for his recovery and for his wife, daughter, and son as they go through all of this.

Things like this just remind me how short our life is and how it can change it such an instance! James 4:14 says For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanishes away It reminds me of this quote....: “Soon this life as we know it shall pass … only what’s done for Jesus will last.” .” And always remember, “It’s only a minute, but eternity’s in it.” Make your vapor count!

Lately, I have been physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally DRAINED!! The things of life have been weighing on me and just bringing me down. The other night I just cried out to God and said I can't do this God. I can't do ANY of this. I am tired and drained and I can't do one more thing. God reminded me that my focus was wrong. I am just a pilgrim PASSING through. This is NOT my home and these distractions and afflictions are but for a moment so why are they bringing me down??? Why am I tired and weary??? I once AGAIN had fallen short. My daily time with God was being squezzed out by the business of life; the demands of life was distracting me from the very one and the very SOURCE of my strength. So once again, I confess my failures. Once again I see why I have failed and how I have failed. Once again I return to MY GOD and MY SAVIOR!! ONce again I return the MY STRENGTH GIVER! Lord, HELP ME!! I need to be in Your Word DAILY! I need to be receiving your strength on a moment by moment basis! Lord, TEACH me!! Lord I want my vapor to count. I don't want to go through this life weary, tired, and heavy laden. I want to make a difference a difference that can only be done through YOUR STRENGTH!!! Thank you Jesus for your help in my time of need! Thank you for your loving discipline and constant guiding hand showing me the way!! I CAN DO ALL THINGS WITH YOU BUT I CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT YOU!!

Well, I don't know what lead me to write all of that! Just thoughts on my mind and in my heart!

Dustin's Service

So we are TOTALLY PRAISING GOD AND GIVING HIM ALL THE GLORY! Matt gave an altar call at the service yesterday and about 15 people came forward. It was AMAZING!!! We do not know if each of them prayed to receive Jesus but they all had the opportunity even those in their seats. We know that God moved and HIS KINGDOM was added to yesterday! Please pray with us for opportunities of follow up now.

Please continue to pray for the family and the days and weeks that are ahead of them!

Thank you to each of you who took a meal and helped with the funeral service. Thanks tho those who helped set up and tear down and serve food and just help the family in whatever way that you could. We all appreciate it! Thanks for each of you who prayed and are continuing to pray for this family!

It has been neat to see the community rally around this family in their time of need!

First Soccer Game

The boys had their first soccer game tonight. They played one of the Perkins County teams. We played them the last game of last year and they beat us by one point. It was the only game that we lost in the season. Tonight we beat them 5 to 1!!! Way to go Imperial!! The kids all did such a great job!! We have only had 1/2 of a practice so far because of weather and us being in AZ so we were a bit nervous going into the game but they all did a great job! We love soccer and are so happy to be back at for this next month!

Ok so I have been so BAD at updating this. I am really HOPING and PRAYING that i can get back on track!

So much has happened since I last wrote on here. I don't even know where to begin!!!

We went to AZ for a pastor and leaders conference and it was so awesome. We took 4 others with us and it was such a blessing. The last morning of the conference we got a phone call that our brother-n-law Brad was tragically killed in a hunting accident. This left us totally stunned and asking the age old question WHY??? Brad left behind a wife and two boys. We do not understand God's timing and or God's ways but we do know that He has a plan. Our hope is in God and God alone. He has carried us through this numbing past week and our prayer and hope is that in and through this tragedy that God's kingdom will be furthered and that lives will turn back to God! PLEASE continue to pray for Jill and the boys!

We want to thank each and everyone of you for your kind words and many prayers at this very hard time. Words can not express our thanks!

We have now returned home and are beginning to try and get back into the routine here. We missed each and everyone of you and look forward to seeing everyone again.

Matt's sister Hope and her soon to be husband Johnathan are moving to NE. Johnathan came out with us and Hope and the kids will come just as soon as school gets out. Thanks to all who helped find Johnathan a job! We appreciate all of the suggestions and he does start work on Monday. We are still looking for a house to rent for them. They are looking at one just down the road from us but it is very small and they do have 3 kids so if anyone knows of a 3-4 bedroom that is for rent in the Imperial and or Champion area we would appreciate any suggestions!

Please pray for us too as far as our trucking business. Matt's truck blew an engine on Monday and we are looking to our Jehovah-jireh the Lord who will provide! Our faith and trust is in Him alone.

The boys anxiously are looking forward to Monday as Soccer starts. Austyn will play on two teams this year and he is so excited about that. Matt will coach the team that both boys are on and will assistant coach the other team that Austyn is on. Soccer will be our life this next month and a half.

Ok it has been a LONG time. So long that I don't even know what has happened that I need to update everyone on. Let's see......we had a youth group lock-in a few weeks back and that was a total BLAST! It was officially the stinkiest of all lock-ins that we have ever done. My house stunk of "feet funk" it was so gross! The next day Matt bought Lysol, Febreeze, and Carpet Fresh to get rid of the smell. We took the teens on a Traveling Scavenger Hunt. Then we ended up in Ogallala and bowled and then came back and played games and wii and playstation 3 etc all night long. Two days later we had the Super Bowl Party at our house. Our house was once again packed out. Thank goodness the "feet funk" smeel was gone and it now smelled like carpet fresh! We were all very sad that the Cardinals lost! Oh well they made it and that's what counts!!! We went to Camp Machasay one day and toured there and that was a blessing. Two baby goats were born right before we got there so that was fun. Jordon has gone back to MN and has made the decision to make MN his home. We are sad about that but we know he is seeking God and obeying God as hard as it is. Matt was invited to speak at a Valentine's banquet this weekend and that was a blessing!
Matt made a very fast trip to AZ. He flew down on a Tuesday night. Looked at carpet machines all day Wednesday. Bought a carpet cleaning machine late Wednesday afternoon and rented a Uhaul Truck to haul the machine back and started the long trip home. We are now the owner's of Matt's Carpet Cleaning. Do you need your carpet cleaned? Matt would be happy to come and steam clean your carpets if you are in the Imperial area. The boys went to Districts for Bible Quizzing and they did not do so well as far as placing. Like Matt said though they are all winners because they have hidden God's Word in their hearts and that makes them winners! We had women's Bunco a few weeks blast and that was at the Lamar Fire Department and it was a total blast as usual. We have been keeping busy with our normal church stuff as well. I continue to teach a monthly women's study and Matt teaches a monthly men's study and we also do a monthly marriage study. I also get to attend a Bible Study on Wed nights when Austyn is at youth group. I really enjoy being able to attend this study it is a Kay Arthur study and as many of you know her studies are amazing!We are continuing to pray and ask God to open the doors for Club Selah. We were told we may need a $50,000fire sprinkler system and so we are trusting God to bring in the finances. The boys are busy with school and getting ready to start soccer and preparing for Regionals in Bible Quizzing. They also enjoy helping Matt with carpets when it works out for them to be apart. Trucking is very slow for Matt his truck has not moved in going on 4 weeks. So we have become very close as a family. It is now time for Matt to start going back to work! LOL!! I am taking a group of teen girls to an all girl christian teen conference called REVOLVE TOUR this weekend. It is a ministry of Women of Faith. So I would appreciate prayers for that. I think that is about it for now. Love you guys!

Club Selah

So a building was donated to Lighthouse Fellowship. We are so totally STOKED! We have been praying about and envisioning a youth center for Imperial for a few years now. It is now going to start becoming a reality! PRAISE GOD!!! Please pray with and for us as these plans begin unfolding and the construction begins and we step out in faith trusting God to go before, behind, and all around us as we seek to obey Him and His desires for this community! It is so exciting! We have a meeting with an architect tonight and we had a cleanup day on Saturday and it was amazing what we got accomplished. Saturday we also got our first monthly pledge. It's so exciting because those of you who know Matt know that he doesn't ask for money. His belief is that where God guides He provides and we don't have to beg people for their money. So true because on Saturday someone comes up to him and said God told me to give this amount of money every month to this project! PRAISE GOD!!! He is providing already!

Breakfast for Jordon

He even made a menu for Jordon and the night before Jordon writes down what he wants and what time he wants breakfast at. No Greater Joy

3 John 1:4 says I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. I walked out of my room several mornings ago and this just hit me so neat to see one of the boys Bibles open and they had a piece of paper and a pencil and a scripture written down. It just touched my heart in such an awesome way! Isn't the pocket knife just a boy thing. I got such a good laugh out of that!

New Year's Eve Fun

So a few families from the church came over to ring in the New Year with us. It was a different year in that we had NO TEENAGERS there. Chad and Jordon took them to a youth party and concert in Julesburg and rocked out to For the Few and played a ton of fun blow up games. They had a total blast and ended up meeting another youth group from Ogallala and they all went bowling until the early morning hours. Austyn had a blast and loved doing something on his own and with his own friends and as always he loves hanging out with Jordon and Chad. Meanwhile back at the DuPeire's we were having our normal crazy fun. The highlights of this year were: the mom's all sliding down the stairs with the kids, Guitar Hero World Tour (of course we rocked it with an ALL GIRL band, which included the coolest purple and pink hair), a game of Apples to Apples and no night would be complete without spoons. It was so much fun! We had to put two tables together and it was pure craziness and the guys actually joined us this year. I am proud to announce that there were NO Major injuries this year and we entered the year injury free! We attempted to watch the Ball fall on Time Square at midnight but somehow we missed it. Oh well! Matt started the year of right with a prayer of blessing and that we would be mindful of Christ in our New Year and that we would draw closer to Him! We ended the night at 5:30am which made for just a few hours of sleep before the day actually had to begin! Oh well all is good and we are grateful for the special times that we can have with family and friends! One day we will rest! My prayer for each and everyone of us is that 2009 would be the best year ever for us and I don't mean financially or materially! I pray that this is the year that we draw closer to God then we ever have before. I pray that our roots would go so deep in Him that we would above all and in all keep our eyes on the target and our eyes focused on our blessed Savior and Redeemer! That whatever challenges and obstacles that we face this year that we face it head on fully equipped with God's help and strength and we over come all because we are over comers in and through Christ Jesus our Lord! My prayer is that we fall deeply in love with Jesus every single moment of every single day! I am so excited for 2009 and the promise that God is going before me! How comforting!

I also have a small secret to tell you guys.......Are you ready?????? Matt watched a Nebraska game all on his own. No one pleading with him to or inviting him to a party to watch it he actually watched it in our own home without any prodding!!! I think he is converting but he would never admit that to any of you so let's just keep that our little secret! LOL!!! He even knew the time of the game before Stac did and she is a die hard!

BUNCO

Hi Ladies,

I am writing this to invite each of you to come and play Bunco with us NEXT Thursday 7pm at Cyndi Bahler's home in Lamar. Cyndi has called me and challeneged me to get 40 ladies at Bunco next week. So I need YOUR help to make this happen! I would love for each and EVERYONE of you to come out and join us for this GREAT night of Fellowship. You may say What is Bunco??? Bunco is a dice game. It is a fast moving and fun filled game. It is played with tables of 4 ladies and the the more tables we have the better it is! You may say I don't know how to play? No problem! It is a easy game that can be learned in a matter of minutes. You may say I don't know anyone? That's great this is an awesome opportunity to get to know others in our community and surrounding communities!

We play Bunco once a month and we rotate homes. This month is at Cyndi Bahler's home. We try to start RIGHT at 7pm so we need everyone there NO LATER then 7pm and then we play a round or two and then we have a snack period and then we finish out the night. We end the night with prizes and rumor has it that Cyndi has 40 prizes this time around so you don't want to miss this! My goal is to have the night finished by 8:30- 8:45pm so that you can return to your families. Those who can stay always stick around and fellowship a bit more once the evening is done.

I do need to know NO LATER then Monday if you plan on joining us. We need to know ahead of time so that we can make sure that we have ladies in increments of 4 so that we can fill the tables and we need to plan for snacks and make sure we have enough tables and chairs. So INVITE a friend or two or four and let me know by Monday if you would like to join us and I will make sure you are added to the list! If you commit to playing and something comes up I need you to let me know ASAP or you need to find yourself a substitute because we must have tables of four to make this game work!

Gift of Friendship

So part of the Buffington clan showed up to suprise us at church last night! It was the most special suprise! This morning we got to hang out and have breakfast together before they headed back home. I just was reminded how special friendships are and how neat it is to have those special friends to share our lives with. Even though we may be far apart we are always near in our thoughts and prayers and it is so neat to see God blessing and using each of us where He has us planted. This isn't always easy and it is many times a SLOW process but none the less God is working and we rejoice in HIS goodness and His faithfullness! May we continue to press on and press forward not growing weary in doing good knowing that we will reap the harvest if we DO NOT give up! Mongollian Grill

Family Christmas

We had a great family Christmas this year. We had our family meal on Christmas Eve and got up early Christmas morning to do our gift exchange. I am just so thankful for my family and the wonderful times that we have together! After we opened gifts we headed into town to help serve a meal to those who had no one to spend Christmas with. It was THE HIGHLIGHT of our Christmas it was a JOY to be apart of and to just serve alongside so many great people! We served over 250 people it was AWESOME!!!!

So this year at church we changed things up a bit and did a pancake feed one night. It was so fun. The guys did all the cooking and the kids made gingerbread houses and chocolate and then we had a white elephant gift exchange. It was so much fun!

So I am going to try and get this blog caught back up. Things have been busy. Below are the pictures from our church Christmas program. It was so much fun. Lynn directed it and Teresa played the music. The kids did a wonderful job. I was so proud of Austyn and Bubba. Austyn played the Innkeeper and Joseph and Bubba played the mouse. They did a SUPERB job. I am so thankful for kids that just get in there and serve. I did have to twist their arms in the beginning but they got in there and just did it. I think this is Austyn's last year though. He has done this for 12 years and he is feeling like he is getting a little old for it. Especially when he was told he was going to wear purple. That just didn't set well with a kid who is turning into a man and purple is just not a man's color in his eyes.

Crazy but Fun Week

Well this week has been a crazy but overall good and fun week. I forgot to take any pictures though. Steph and I went to Omaha for a quick 2 days. It went by so fast but we had a great time and we got to go shopping at Kohls, Target, and Walmart and we got to eat at a wonderful mongollian grill called Hu Hot. It was so fun! On Wednesday Steph had her checkup appointment and the doctors were so pleased with her progress and said to come back in 6 months for another MRI. We are so happy and so praising God for the miraculous healing that is taking place in her body.

Then Wednesday night the boys had their friend come over to stay the night. Anthony is a great friend that the boys met just over a year ago. Anthony comes here several times a year from Texas to visit his aunt and uncle and he always gets to spend some time with the boys. They always eat way too much junk, stay up way too late, and play way too many video games, and play and do dangerous boy stunts but they have such a good time. Anthony left this morning and the boys are very sad! I am thankful though that they have such a good friend and that we get to spend the time with him that we do get to spend!

Squeakers

Quizzing

So I forgot my camera last weekend but we had Bible Quizzing. The boy's team got second place and they were able to take the 2nd place traveling trophy home. They were SOOOOOOO excited! We were so proud of them and all the hard work that put into memorizing God's Word! We know that all the time and the driving and the money that we put into this will all be worth it. We know that God says that His word will not return void!

MRI Update

Well, yesterday morning when the doctor came and saw Steph she told her that she was VERY pleased with the results of the MRI. It confirms the doctor's success of the surgery! We are PRAISING GOD and giving HIM all the honor and glory for giving the doctors the ability to remove the tumor. Steph will continue to get routine MRI's to keep checking and making sure that nothing begins to grow again!

Stephanie was doing good yesterday morning and said she was feeling "less foggy" and she was more talkative! It was encouraging to see her beginning to feel better. She did have quite a bit of swelling which is very normal and to be expected!

Matt just talked with Dan. (Steph's dad) He said that her swelling was pretty bad yesterday but they iced her overnight and today it is much better. Steph is doing awesome and they will be releasing her today. They will stick around Omaha until about Noon tomorrow. Then she should be home by tomorrow evening. When she returns to Wauneta we will begin taking meals to her next week. If you are interested in making a meal for her just shoot me an email or get ahold of me and I will add you to the schedule. I am willing to take the food down there and there is a couple ladies that are going through Wauneta for work next week so we could get it to them and they can deliver it!

Well tonight for supper we were able to meet up for dinner with a friend from Junior High and High School days. I am not naming this friend so that I keep his identity safe! LOL!! It was fun to laugh and recall the old stories and memories that we had. It was fun to see how our lives have changed and to see how and where our lives have taken us. Thanks to our friend.....you know who you are.....LOL......for meeting us for supper it was a good time!

Boys and their Toys

This afternoon we went to one more Hobby Store. This is like a candy store for the boys. I thought I was going to have to wipe the drool off Austyn's face. He was so suprised by how big the store was and the inventory that they had. The boys; all three of them, are so into RC Vehicles and they were in heaven, The Hobby store even had an indoor concrete race track where they have weekly races. They also have an outdoor dirt 4x4 track for the summer months. They were in awe and have big dreams and plans. This is an expensive hobby but one they are enjoying together! They had THOUSANDS of RC Vehicles in this store. IT was incredible. They even had a Landcruiser that looked like the one that we used to have for 4 wheelin in AZ.

I'm watching the snow come down and cover the dreary streets and it's beautiful...as long as I get to stay inside. :) My hope for this is fleeting. Obviously, I can't stay inside until spring or even until I have the chance to get over this winter cold thing that seems to have caught me. As I was sitting here thinking how temporary and empty the hope I hold in keeping warm all winter long is, my thoughts jumped to other hope I have. (I'm just sure I have ADD tendencies because my thoughts jump around...A LOT!)
But anyway, back to the hope issue...

Lamentations 3:21-24 reminds us, "This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “ The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “ Therefore I hope in Him!”"

Ps. 130:5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope.

Our friend, Stephanie, had surgery yesterday on what was considered an inoperable brain tumor. The thing is, she and many others kept on hoping in His word and trusting Him for whatever outcome there was. We are praising God today because the doctors think they were able to get all of it. She will have tests done to clarify the results of the surgery but regardless of the outcome, our hope remains fixed on God. It seems like everywhere we look there are horrible things happening. Cancer, poverty, HIV, abuse, the list goes on BUT there is always hope and as we thank God for His many blessings, I pray you and I can continually put our hope in Him.

Romans 5:5 tells us, "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Take heart and HOPE IN CHRIST! And please, keep praying for my sister and Stephanie, and all those hoping in Christ as they run the race towards healing from cancer. Thanks!

Well Stephanie had a BIG day today. They got her up to walk right away this morning and then she had the MRI and the nurses are CONSTANTLY coming in and checking in on her and taking vitals and whatever else. So needless to say she is not getting much rest. She looks very tired and says she feels "foggy" all of that is normal. Please pray with us that God gives her supernatural sleep tonight and that her body is able to get the much needed rest that she needs and that her body would quickly heal. This will be my last update on Stephanie from Omaha. We leave in the morning to go back home and so won't have internet until we get home. Steph will possibly be in the hospital until Friday and then stick around Omaha area until Saturday or Sunday. Once she is back home beginning like Monday we want to start taking her meals for awhile. So if you are interested in this please email me and we will get a schedule going!

Housekeeping Stuff

Sorry to those of you who try to text us and don't get a response back. It is the weirdest thing. Sometimes our texts work and other times they don't. Usually we receive them but we can't send out at the hotel or driving around town sometimes we can send them at the hospital.

The boys got to go to a hobby store this morning. They were in heaven. All the fun things boys like. R/C, Racetracks, Cars, Automobiles, Planes, Trains you name they had it!

Matt found a QT yesterday. QT was Matt's favorite conveinent store in Arizona. Their fountain drinks are awesome and they have flavored syrups that you can put in your drinks. Matt's favorite is Dr Pepper with a shot of vanilla.

We have a yummy mexican food restaurant attached to our hotel. We had lunch there yesterday. Brian come and we will treat you to lunch!

Walking Around

This morning we got to the hospital and were able to see Steph for a short visit. She is in ICU today and they hope to move her later this afternoon to a regular room. She is doing well. She looks very tired and we are really hoping she can get some rest. The doctor was in and was very encouraging and said all is looking well. The MRI that was to happen last night was postponed until 11am this morning. I will post the results as soon as I know them. PLEASE pray for a good report from the MRI. I will post results as soon as those are in.
As we were leaving they had Steph up and walking the halls. It is truly AMAZING to see how well that she is doing. The scripture that keeps coming to my head is that God does EXCEEDINGLY and ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL that we can think or ask TO HIM BE THE GLORY!!!! We serve a mighty God a God who answers prayers and is in the business of healing! PRAISE HIM!!!

Steph is Out of Surgery

Well the surgery part was officially done about 5:00ish tonight. It took them an additional 3 hours to sew her back up. We talked with the doctor tonight about 8pm. She was very encouraging and seems to think that all of the tumor was removed!!! PRAISE GOD!!!! She was very happy with the surgery and we were all so encouraged with her report. We are thanking God for going before her and giving her the wisdom that He gave her and we are praying for a quick recovery for Steph and a complete healing! We thought we would be able to see Steph tonight but she is very nauseated and they even postponed her MRI that she was to have tonight. They will do it in the morning. So we will go up in the morning and see her. So continue to pray for her healing and recovery from the surgery! The MRI tomorrow will be a guide point from here on out. We are just thrilled with it all and are praising God for such a good report! My brain is not processing information very well at this time but I just thank each and every one of you for your prayers and I ask you to continue! We serve a mighty God who is answering prayers and we look forward to Him answering and working even more. More tomorrow....

Surgery Update

Well Steph is still in surgery. We got word that her platelettes (spelling???) were low and they had to give her a transfusion. They said they got all of the tumor that they could get. They are sewing her back up and it will be another 1.5-2 hours before they are complete. Then she will go to recovery before we can see her.

Pre-Op Room

Well all of the pre-op stuff is done. They opted to not try and start a iv since it is so painful for Steph. Her veins literally run away and it is torture trying to get an iv going. So they opted for her port. It took three times with no success. The third time they got it in but it infiilltrated her chest and caused alot of pain. They had to remove it and start an iv. The "cute" happy juice guy was the one who started the iv so that was the only good fact about it all. They took her back to start the "happy juice" and the mapping and initital incision could take up to 2 hours. the overall surgery could take up to 8 hours. Thanks for the continud prayers. Steph's spirits are good and she has such a peace about her. It is awesome. Thanks to all who are keeping up with this blog. Our phones are not texting here so it is easier to keep this updated. Brian and Lynn Prosser have updates to for any of you who want to touch bases with them. All for now....

Steph had this NEON GREEN nail polish picked out to wear at the hospital. They won't let her wear any nail polish so Eilene painted her's green then Steph's dad said he would do it and I said I would wear it and then Matt said he would and then Bubba and then Austyn so we are all wearing NEON GREEN nail polish just for Steph. It was funny to see Austyn painting Matt's toes.....too funny!

Steph is all smiles as her final appointment was finished. See the lifesavers on Steph's forehead??? We call this her GPS system. This is what the doctors will use to navigate inside of her head when they cut her open to "Scoop" out the tumor tomorrow. The boys loved the revolving doors at the hospital. Well then again so did their mom. For those of you who went to women's retreat last year you know how much I like revolving doors!! Then we went to HuHot for supper. Hu Hot is a Mongollian Beef Grill! It was so yummy!
Then we came back to the hotel and swam and had a good time. Now it is off for a Starbucks coffee and then a quick trip to Target! Oh yeah!!! Well I will post the rest of the pictures after we go and get our Gingerbread Lattes and Carmel Frappachinos.

Day in the Hospital

Well we drove to Omaha last night after church. We were going to drive to Kearney and spend the night there but we just kept driving and got to Omaha about 3:30 their time this morning. We grabbed a few hours of sleep and headed up to the hospital to meet Steph and her dad and his wife. Steph has had pre-op appointments all day. She is getting her final test done as I write this. Once that is done she is done for the day. Her surgery is scheduled for 10am tomorrow morning. (9am Imperial time) Steph is is great spirits and she is anxious to have this tumor removed. PLEASE keep her and the family in prayer especially tomorrow morning during the surgery! We know that God is in control and we trust Him to go before her and to prepare the surgery and to guide the doctors hands as they go in to remove the tumor! I will keep you all posted so thanks for the prayers! Steph appreciates all of the prayers too!

Harvest Update

I just want to thank everyone who prayed for us during harvest. The boys and I officially had our last day today. Matt still has one more day. They are hoping to finish by tomorrow night if not by Sunday Lord willing. The snow that we got this morning did not last long and we were able to get going by 8am. So that was good. Thanksgiving 2008 the Tailgating Way

So, I don't have pictures to post yet; but I couldn't wait to write this post. Today we were working harvest in the field ALL day. We are so close to finishing harvest and everyone is anxious to get it done. So, Sunday night we had what we thought would be our Thanksgiving Supper for this year. We had it amoung many friends and family and it was WONDERFUL. So today we went to the field anticipating just another "typical" harvest day. Well at noon Billy's wife shows up with Thanksgiving Dinner. She opens up the back of her vehicle and sets up a table full of salads and pies and rolls and her tailgate is full of all the traditional turkey, green bean casserole and of course mashed potatoes! It was so YUMMY!! The whole crew stopped and ate for a whole 10 minutes. Then about 5pm Chris and Stacy show up with yet ANOTHER Thanksgiving Supper. WOW!!! They drove from Cheyenne WY over 400 miles roundtrip just to bring us Thanksgiving Supper! They opened up their taigate and it was full also of all the traditional foods. They even set up a table with the cutest Thanksgiving Tablecloth and Pilgrim Decorations and Tegan even had her own homeade Scarecrow Decorations to add to the mix. It was all topped off with HOT coffee and Carmel Apple Creamer and of course no Thanksgiving Meal would be complete without Sparkling Apple Juice! WOW!!! So amoung the normal things that we are thankful for we also are thankful for special friends and family who come from far and near to show their kindness and thoughtfullness! We are so blessed!!!! Thanks Chris and Stac for driving so far just to show your love and kindess and thanks to Billy's wife for her kindess as well! Our family does not deserve this treatment and we definetly look at is as a blessing from God! Thanks to the Prosser's for opening up your home and allowing the food to be warmed up so that it was so yummy and warm when it reached the field! Thanks Chris and Stacy for sharing with the whole harvest crew! Our crew doesn't stop for anything during the day unless their is a breakdown and TWICE today the whole operation stopped for just a few moments as we gathered together and shared this thanksgiving day together! This is one thanksgiving that will forever be etched in our minds and memories! THANKS to each of your who shared in the day in some way or another! We are so thankful for each of you!! Happy Thanksgiving 2008 we will always remember this year and the unique tailgate party that we had together!

Harvest Update

So, I am not in the grain cart this morning. We had thanksgiving supper before church last night and everyone that came in from the West wanted to know what I did to the grain cart. I had no clue what anyone was talking about since I don't work on Sunday's. Apparently the grain cart was in the field and looked terrible. I was told that it looked like it was going to tip over and that it looked like the axle was broken. YIKES!!!Just shortly later I got a text from my cousin Gregg letting me knowing that "Kinze" thats my grain cart was broken and that they had to repair it so they wouldn't need me until noon today. I guess a wheel bearing came loose. I am so thankful that I wasn't driving when it broke I hate when stuff breaks down. I am praying that they can get the part soon though so they can get it repaired this morning. If things can keep moving along and the weather holds we could be done with harvest by Sunday LORD WILLING!!! So please pray with us that this weeks goes smoothly with no more breakdowns and that the weather holds they are calling for possible rain and snow on Thursday and Friday and that could really delay things. Ultimately we pray that God's will would be done and that we could roll with whatever happens. Please continue to pray for safety. Thanks! Love each of you!

New Grain Trailer

Matt was leasing a grain trailer from a guy who decided Sunday night that he needed it back. He gave us one day's notice that he needed it back. So this week we have been praying that God would help us to find a grain trailer that we could buy for Matt's second truck. Grain trailers are almost impossible to find. We found 3 of them one in Concordia, KS one in Montgomery, MO and one in Fargo, ND We set out yesterday afternoon to make the rounds starting in KS and asking God to show us which one was for us. As the below quote says from Stormie Omartin....we began to take one step at a time as God showed us what to do....

“Sometimes only the step I'm on, or the very next one ahead, is all that is illuminated for me. God gives just the amount of light I need for the exact moment I need it. At those times I walk in surrender to faith, unable to see the future and not fully comprehending the past. And because it is God who has given me what light I have, I know I must reject the fear and doubt that threaten to overtake me. I must determine to be content where I am, and allow God to get me where I need to go. I walk forward, one step at a time, fully trusting that the light God sheds is absolutely sufficient.”

We made it to KS last night and after an extensive time of checking everything out Matt decided that this was the one to buy! So we bought it hooked up to it and hauled it home! We are praising God that even in times that seem IMPOSSIBLE that He works things out and that He provides and directs us as we seek His direction in our lives! I am so thankful that as we seek the Lord in prayer that He is faithful to direct our steps and to show us His will for us! All glory and praise goes to our Father!

Well we went to the field this morning and we got 5 good hours in. Things were moving along very well when a hose broke on the combine. The guys went to town to get a part and while they were gone it started snowing. So harvest was called for the day. On our way home it started snowing hard and it hasn't stopped yet. They are saying MAYBE 4-5 inches of snow before the storm passes??? Yikes that can bring harvest to a halt! PLEASE PRAY for God's will in all of this. Matt may have to make a trip to North Dakota to get a grain trailer. So it might work out as far as timing for him. Does anyone out there know of a grain trailer for sale CLOSER??? It would be nice if he could find one closer but grain trailers sure are slim pickins around here this year.

Lego Fun

We had high winds the other day and Matt was out of work because there was no work with the high winds. After school Dad and Austyn decided it was lego time. Matt and Austyn LOVE legos and can spend hours playing with them. So here are a few pictures of their finished products. Bubba joined for a short time. So I know I have asked you guys to pray for Stephanie. Our friend who has been battling brain cancer for the second time. Well about 3 months ago she went to another doctor in Omaha and had them look at her MRI. The doctors here thought the tumor was growing. She did not think so at the time and so Steph went back this week for a follow up......the below words are Steph's.....Yesterday I was in Omaha for a Doctors Appointment. Contrary to what I have been told for the last year, The doctor that I saw yesterday very strongly believes that she can remove my Entire brain tumor! She said that with her training, she is 100% confident that she can remove it. That means that I get to stop all treatments, and after the surgery, just be watched by imaging! PTL!!! I will be able to have a somewhat normal life!!! Thank the Lord!!!

PRAISE GOD! We serve a God who heals! We serve a God who hears and answers prayers! PLEASE continue to pray for Steph. They hope to remove the tumor the beginning of December. I will keep you all posted so that you can pray! Please pray that the surjery is successful! Pray that God accomplishes HIS will in and through this all!!

Thanks Steph for being such a pillar of strength through this all! I know it has been God in you that has give you the strength to bear the things that you have been given. I have seen God so shine through you in this time and I have seen others drawn to Him because of you! Keep shining that light inside of you and keep pressing on....because as scripture says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

I am just so excited and happy and praising God that we serve such a mighty and powerful and GOOD God! To Him be the glory and praise!

Bible Quizzing

The boys joined a Bible Quizzing Group just a little over a month ago now. Their group is through youth challenge but the Bible Quizzing is through BQF (Bible Quizzing Fellowship)They are quizzing over the book of Luke this year. They are assigned a chapter and are to memorize it throughout the month. They go to weekly practices and then they have a meet the first Saturday of every month. The boys loved it and I can tell you as a parent there is NO GREATER JOY than to watch and see them enjoying hiding God's Word in their hearts. This is something that I know God will use in their lives. Scripture says that HIS WORD will not return void and that is my prayer that as they hide God's Word in their hearts that God will use it in their lives and that the Holy Spirit will speak to them as they memorize and give them application for their lives! PLEASE pray for them as they do this. I know the enemy is not happy about them desiring to do this and he will be out to attack them. So please cover them in your prayers! When we got to the meet Saturday it was so awesome. They started out the day with a time of worship and a teaching from God's Word. Then they went into the quizzing time and it was just so incredibly awesome!

Harvest Fellowship

Last Friday night we had a harvest fellowship get together. We take a bold stand against halloween and so we invited people over for a night of fellowship andprayer. We had a time to pray and pray for the safety of those who were participating in halloween activites and a time to pray for God's continual hand of safety on this harvest season and that He would bless the crops. We had about 40 people come out for this and we had a potatoe and soup bar. It was so much fun and I can't believe that I forgot to take pictures until the very end when Bubba took a few for me! The night would not have been complete without a good game of spoons. I am VERY humbled to say the "newbies" of spoons beat me! Good job Mike and Crystal way to put me in my place.

The boys do not have snow clothes for this year. They totally outgrew all their stuff. So check out Austyn. He put on Matt's coveralls and held them up with my belt because he was so anxious to get out in the snow! I was totally cracking up!

First Snow

We had our first snow of the year! It was here today and gone the next day! Kind of like our life here on earth! We are not guranteed tomorrow or even our next breath! Makes you stop and think where will I be if my life ends today? The Bible has God's answer for that...that whosover believes in Him shall not perish but have EVERLASTING (forever) life John 3:16 Scripture also says that TODAY is the day of salvation! If you have not said YES to God TODAY is the day and you can rest assured that you will have a life that will last for eternity in heaven! What an awesome thing!
